MILLERTON FARM RESIDENCE
Millerton, NY
The Millerton Farmhouse is a 6,400 square foot custom home built on 100-acres of farmland. Durable, time-worn materials including reclaimed timber, aged brick, venetian plaster and roman clay walls, and natural stone flooring throughout, were used not only for their resilience, but their ability to gather character over time. The exterior of the home is finished in vertical Mushroom Wood siding, standing seam metal and cedar roofing and accented with copper gutters that will naturally age. Hand-cut veneer stone finishes the exterior and chimney.
The home centers on a series of interconnected indoor and outdoor kitchens featuring Italian marble counters, wood fired ovens and a breakfast nook overlooking a connected greenhouse. The living room features a vaulted ceiling with reclaimed oak beams and continuous venetian plaster from ceiling to walls. A custom Secco Glass storefront provides expansive views of the farmland the home sits on. The oversized soapstone fireplace serves as a key feature connecting the living and dining rooms.
Arched and radius corners throughout the space bring a unique softness to offset the reclaimed wood doors and flooring throughout the home. A radius staircase complete with reclaimed oak stair treads and venetian plaster walls serves as an elegant central feature. The master bathroom features a solid marble soaking tub and hand cut Moroccan tiles. All millwork from doors and flooring to built-in shelving and bunkbeds are custom designed and built to add to the character of the home.
